 Kevin “Pup” Smith helped the Mustangs win back-to-back 4A state titles in 1986 & 1987, earning all-state honors as a senior, when he played both ways and finished with 12 interceptions and 9 TD receptions. Named to UIL All-Century High School Team (second-team cornerback) selected by fan vote in 2009. Signed with Texas A&M as one of state's top secondary recruits. Remains Aggies' all-time leader in interceptions (20), return yardage (289) and TD returns (3), and ended his college career as school leader in pass breakups (32). Also holds A&M mark for single-season picks with 9 in 1989, and earned consensus all-America honors as senior in '91 after scoring 6 special-teams TDs, including 2 on 70+-yard punt returns. Selected by Dallas with 17th overall pick in '92 NFL Draft, he played 8 seasons, intercepted 19 passes and earned a Pro Bowl berth and 3 Super Bowl rings.
