Tagliabue, a native of Victoria, was a sportswriter for the Corpus Christi Caller-Times for more than 44 years (1950-95). During the glory years of Corpus Christi high school football, he chronicled the exploits of Ray’s 1959 and Miller’s 1960 state championship teams. He also covered Texas A&I’s three NAIA national championships and 46-game winning streak from 1974-77. Tagliabue received numerous honors and was named Sportswriter of the Year by the Corpus Christi Press Club (1963, 1965), the Lone Star Conference (1971-72) and the Texas High School Coaches Association (1974). He is a member of the Coastal Bend Coaches Association Hall of Honor (1991), Roy Miller HS Athletic Hall of Fame (1996) and the Texas A&I Javelina Hall of Fame (1997). Tagliabue died on Sept. 16, 1996.
