Donald A. Moore

Splendora High School

_

Inducted in 2014

A Texas Football Super Team selection in 1979, Moore rushed for 2,472 yards to lead Splendora to an 8-1-1 record and earn Class 3A first-team all-state honors at both running back and defensive back. The 5-11, 175-pounder with 4.3 speed ended his career with 14,420 all-purpose yards (360.5 per game), 6,850 rushing yards and 668 points -- second to Sugar Land's legendary Kenneth Hall in all three categories at the time, and best among all players above Class 1A. His 89 career touchdowns ranked sixth in state history. A three-time all-state choice at defensive back, Moore still holds Texas' all-time record for interceptions in a game (7 against New Waverly in 1977 as a sophomore) and the national record for career thefts (59).
