Davidson was the primary weapon in Coach Lloyd Mitchell’s offense. A two-time all-district tailback, Davidson led the Hornets to a 6-1-1 record in 1948. His senior year Davidson made all-district in four sports and twice advanced to the state track meet in the low hurdles. As a quarterback at Baylor University in 1952 and 1953 he passed for over 1,800 yards. In 1954 he played in the Chicago Tribune’s College All-Star game and was a captain for the West in the East-West Shrine Game. Although drafted by the NFL’s Baltimore Colts (1954,57), he spent the majority of career in the AFL with the Dallas Texans (1960-62) and Oakland Raiders (1962-66, 68). Davidson was the MVP in the 1st AFL All-Star game in 1962. He later served as assistant coach at Baylor under Grant Teaff from 1972-1992.
