Moser compiled a 78-7-2 coaching record at Abilene in the 1950s, but his greatest accomplishment as a coach is a 49-game winning streak from 1954-57 that included three state championships -- 14-7 over Houston Austin in '54, 33-13 over John Tyler in '55 and 14-0 over Corpus Christi Ray in '56. That run was broken in the 1957 playoffs, when eventual champion Highland Park tied the Eagles and advanced on penetrations. Glenn Gregory, perhaps Moser’s greatest star and a Hall of Famer himself, later said Moser "was a coach ahead of his time.” ?Moser played center on Missouri's 1939 Sugar Bowl champions, but his coaching career was interrupted by a stint in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired in 1960 at age 41 with a career record of 141-29-2, and his winning percentage of .829 remains among the best all-time in the state's highest classification. He came out of retirement to serve as an assistant at Texas A&M from 1974-78, and spent several years as an NFL scout in the state. Moser died on May 8, 1995, at age 76.
