San Benito (9-0, 4-0) vs. Weslaco (9-0, 4-0): It’s the 6A showdown in the Rio Grane Valley everyone has been waiting for as unbeaten San Benito hosts unbeaten Weslaco in a battle of legacy programs down in the 956.

San Benito handled a good Los Fresnos squad with relative ease last week, 38-14, as RB Fabian Garcia had a rushing and receiving touchdown, while QB Aaron Corona tossed three touchdown passes for the Greyhounds.

Weslaco blew past Brownsville Hanna, 44-7, its second straight blowout win over a Brownsville ISD program.

Much like San Benito, Weslaco’s gotten things done with balance on the offensive side of the ball and a strong defense that allows just under a dozen points per game.

San Benito’s big game experience from its three round playoff run a year ago will be vital in what is going to be a major big game atmosphere. That’s the edge for the Greyhounds at home.
