UPDATED: Houston's Shead taken to the locker room, questionable to return

Houston point guard Jamal Shead was taken to the locker room during the Cougars’ Sweet Sixteen game.

The senior leader had two points and three assists and was injured on a layup attempt with just over six minutes to go in the first half. He walked off on his own power but needed assistance to get to the locker room once he reached the bench. Shead is the Big 12 Player of the Season and a Naismith Player of the Year finalist.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

 

UPDATE 10:05 p.m.: Shead was taken for x-rays during halftime and they were reportedly negative. He's diagnosed with a severe sprain according to the Houston Chronicle.

 

UPDATE 9:45 p.m.: Per CBS Sports, Shead is questionable to return. The All American did not come back out from the locker room for the remainder of thre first half.
