Jasper 2024 ILB Ty'Anthony Smith (6'2, 205) flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to Texas.

Smith is a four-star prospect, the state's No. 1-rated ILB, ranked 25th in the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100.

Smith was the LB MVP at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in Houston.

Scouting Report: Smith immediately captures attention with his remarkable instinct for analyzing run-pass scenarios based on game tape. His style of play is characterized by an aggressive downhill approach, often delivering impactful blows that send opponents backward.

Smith's combination of speed and agility allows him to navigate through congested areas and make tackles effectively. Impressive limb length allows him to swat down passes from a considerable distance, expanding his reach and providing a wide radius for making open-field tackles.

He excels as a versatile linebacker, displaying exceptional speed and agility that enables him to cover space effectively. Smith demonstrates solid flexibility and exhibits remarkable speed on the field, utilizing his hands skillfully to disengage from blocks and pursue the ball carrier. His quick reaction time allows him to close in swiftly on the ball and deliver physically imposing tackles.

Smith times his blitzes effectively, penetrating the offensive line to disrupt plays. Strengthening his already well-built frame would be beneficial for his role as an inside linebacker, though he also possesses the potential to excel as an outside linebacker.
