Garrison (12-1) vs. Timpson (13-0), 7 p.m. Friday at Nacogdoches’ Bryce Stadium: This game was originally scheduled for Thursday night, but due to forecasted bad weather in East Texas, the two teams decided to move the game to Friday night. So, expect a big and rowdy crowd at SFA featuring two schools located about seven miles apart.

These two teams met in Week 11 and Timpson was able to escape with a hard fought 35-26 win as the Bears were able to do just enough to slow down a tough Garrison rushing attack.

Both teams dominated in wins over opponents from Northeast Texas last week as Garrison rolled past Cooper, 47-20. Garrison’s defense was the story holding a stout Cooper rushing attack in check, while RB Omarion Rasberry led the offense with 61 yards rushing and a touchdown; he also returned a kickoff 70-yards for a score.

Timpson made quite the statement last week as the Bears blasted Honey Grove, 68-7. The duo of Terry Bussey and JJ Garner was simply too much for HGHS. Bussey threw for 273 yards and four touchdowns. He added 66 yards and two rushing touchdowns and had an interception return for a touchdown. Garner ran for 145 yards and two scores; he also had 171 receiving yards and three scores and he returned a fumble for a touchdown.

This one will be an absolute war. Garrison has given Timpson all they wanted the past two meetings and it’s hard to beat a good team twice, but will Terry Bussey let his team lose? My guess is Bussey pulls some magic out and the Bears get another win on their elusive title quest.

Stepp’s Pick: Timpson by 4
