Cy-Fair (10-1) vs. Katy (10-1), 7 p.m. Friday at Cypress’ Cy-Fair FCU Stadium: The last remaining Cy-Fair ISD team in the playoffs will have their hands full with perennial powerhouse Katy in this Houston area showdown.

The Bobcats rolled past Houston Bellaire, 55-10, behind Texas commit Trey Owens’ five first half touchdown passes; he added a touchdown run for good measure.

Katy was similarly dominant in its 49-6 win over Fort Bend Travis. Sophomore RB Tremayne Hill ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns (all in the first half) to lead a Tigers attack that scored 42 first half points and rolled up 344 yards on the ground in the victory.

Both teams are on long winning streaks - Cy-Fair has rattled off 10 straight wins, while Katy’s won nine straight.

It’s been a while since either team has been seriously pushed. Cy-Fair’s offense is electric with Owens leading the way and Katy’s secondary has shown signs of being vulnerable. The key in this game comes down to the Cy-Fair defense led by DT Landon Rink. Can the Bobcats slow this Katy ground game and put the Tigers into obvious passing situations? It’ll be a close one, but you won’t make a living picking against Katy in the playoffs. The Tigers survive in a thriller.
