Celina Offensive Run Game Coordinator Josh McKiddy has been named the next head football coach at Electra High School, Electra ISD announced on Thursday.

He'll replace Ryan Quillen. who is remaining on as the athletic director and head boys basketball coach.

McKiddy has been at Celina the past four seasons. Prior to his stint with the Bobcats he served as an assistant at Prosper, Pilot Point, Coppell, Midland Lee, Keller, Arlington Sam Houston and Sachse.

Originally from Wylie, McKiddy says he’s very familiar with Electra and the area.

“I lived in Wichita Falls when I was in the Air Force had driven through Electra a few times and was familiar with the area," he said. "The old high school behind the stadium is a really cook backdrop."

McKiddy is the second assistant from the Celina staff to land a head coaching job this offseason joining Travis McClain, who was named head coach at Bogota Rivercrest in February.

“Mr. (Don) Hasley (Electra ISD superintendent) wants to win and he made that clear during the process, " he said. "He is committed to it and advised he would allocate resources accordingly to help us get that point and that was really attractive to me when I heard that."

Currently Electra has numbers that would make then eligible for six-man football, but the numbers are higher at the lower levels and when snapshot day hits in October. Expect Electra to be sitting with Class 2A numbers once again.
