Sanger ISD pending board approval next week will name Tioga head coach Chad Rogers as the next athletic director/head football coach at Sanger High School, Rogers replaces Rocky Smart who resigned his post as head football coach to take over at Valley View High School, just a few miles north on I-35.

Rogers, who has spent the last two seasons leading Class 2A Tioga is best known for an impressive eleven-season run at Snyder where he posted a 96-40 record and leading the Tigers to a pair of state semifinal appearances, three regional semifinal appearances and nine overall trips to the playoffs.

Coach Rogers, who has a career record of 159-94 also spent nine seasons as the head coach at Denison where he led the ‘Jackets to the playoffs thee times. In two seasons leading Tioga, Rogers had a 13-9 record led the Bulldogs to the playoffs twice.

Rogers, a native of Durant, OK spent time as an assistant at Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, before joining the staff at Snyder under head coach David Baugh before being elevated to head coach in 2001.

Tioga ISD has in recent weeks been hit with some financial difficulties so it’ll be interesting to see how a district going through financial woes handles a search for a new athletic director/head football coach in the coming weeks.
