Sources confirmed that Texas Tech running back Quinten Joyner is out for the 2025 season after suffering a knee injury. Joyner, a Manor product who transferred to the Red Raiders from USC, was the projected starter and replacement for the graduated Tahj Brooks, who is now in the NFL after setting the program’s all-time career rushing record.

Joyner played in 17 games over two seasons for the Trojans, rushing for 603 yards and four touchdowns on 81 carries during that time. He was a key member of Texas Tech’s highly anticipated 2025 transfer portal class. His absence makes room for a pair of sophomores to potentially post breakout seasons in Lubbock. The duo of J’Koby Williams and Cameron Dickey are now the lead backs for offensive coordinator Mack Leftwich.

Head coach Joey McGuire enters Year 4 with all eyes on his Red Raiders thanks to the money the team spent in the offseason on the portal and on the recruiting trail. They open the season at home against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Aug. 30 at 6:30 p.m.
