Lubbock Estacado (2-0) at Amarillo Palo Duro (1-1): Lubbock Estacado, who entered the state rankings this week in 4A-Division I, makes the trip up I-27 to take on a Palo Duro squad that is working to re-establish themselves as a power in the Texas Panhandle under PDHS alum Eric Mims.

Estacado is off to a fast 2-0 start as the Matadors rolled past Dumas, 49-16, last week. RB Bobby Ross ran for 209 yards and two touchdowns on just eight carries to pace a rushing attack, which ran for 331 yards. It was the second straight week that Ross topped 200 yards on the ground.

Palo Duro knocked off cross-town rival Amarillo Caprock, 20-14, in a low scoring slug-fest. Two first quarter touchdown runs from Palo Duro started things off, while sophomore QB/DB Darien Lewis ran for 119 yards and a touchdown; he also had a goal line interception late in the game to seal the victory.

Palo Duro’s defense has been stout, but can the Dons offense, which has struggled, get rolling this week? They’ll need some firepower against an Estacado team averaging over 50 points per game.
