A high-flying offensive system is on its way to San Marcos. If Bobcats fans needed any reassurance that more points will be scored in 2022 under the leadership of head coach G.J. Kinne, he put some of those fears to bed on Tuesday when Texas State the addition of offensive coordinator Mack Leftwich

Leftwich holds the same title at UIW, where he and Kinne have the Cardinals in the FCS semifinals – the furthest in school history. The offense – and quarteraback Lindsey Scott – is the major driving force. Scott is the frontrunner to win the Walter Payton Award, which is the FCS version of the Heisman Trophy.

Incarnated Word is 12-1 and on a nine-game winning streak entering the Friday matchup with North Dakota State. The Cardinals average 53 points a game and 372.62 yards per game through the air. Scott has thrown for 4,404 yards and 59 touchdowns. He has nine more on the ground. Fellow UIW assistant Jordan Shoemaker was announced as the offensive line coach and run-game coordinator.

Texas State moved on from Jake Spavital after a 5-7 season in 2022.
