Texas Tech football has bolstered its offensive line depth with the addition of graduate transfer offensive lineman Josh Burger from Wofford. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Burger started the last 25 games at his previous FCS school and earned All-Southern Conference honors each of the past two seasons. As a sophomore, HERO Sports named him a sophomore All-American after leading the Terriers with 109 knockdown blocks.

The Aurora, Ohio, native played primarily right tackle, and was listed at 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds as a junior. He signed a financial aid agreement with Texas Tech on Wednesday. He also received offers from Indiana and South Florida, according to 247Sports

Burger figures to factor into the tackle rotation right away. Starters Terence Steele and Travis Bruffy both graduated after a combined 81 starts in four seasons on the offensive line. Wofford plays an option offense, but Burger’s wrestling background helped him excel as a pass blocker in high school.

Texas Tech coach Matt Wells and his staff have not shied away from featuring graduate transfers during their short stay in Lubbock. Last season, Penn State transfer Zech McPhearson and Cal’s Evan Rambo both started in the secondary, while running back Armond Shyne (Utah) and receiver RJ Turner (ULM) played on offense.
