On Wednesday, North Texas secured a verbal commitment from Dorian Morris, a 5-foot-10, 162-pound cornerback from Mesquite Poteet.
A day later, Morris helped lead Poteet to an impressive 48-7 win over Waxahachie.
The victory came after a week one loss to Denton Ryan, but Morris -- who secured an interception in the win -- indicated his team just prepared harder. The Pirates only allowed 97 yards passing and intercepted three passes.
"We told our o-line to get more aggressive, we told our d-line to get more physical, and we told out secondary to get their eyes out of the backfield," Morris stated.
Morris selected the Mean Green over offers from schools like Louisiana Tech and Navy among others.
"They (UNT) just gave more of family environment," Morris said. "They showed that they really wanted me and really liked the atmosphere there."
"They see me coming in and being a good corner for them, and hopefully I can come in and start as a freshman."
North Texas is off to a 2-0 start, and Morris said that he and the other recruits feel the excitement that Seth Littrell has brought to Denton.
"Yes sir, there is some excitement over there this year," Morris said. "They have a good defense, a big o-line, and some exciting receivers."
Morris earned second-team all-district honors and was the state runner-up in the Class 5A 400-meter dash (47.99).
