The portal is technically closed and most of the top players that entered have found new homes ahead of the spring semester. We’ll breakdown each of the 13 FBS portal classes across the state of Texas, continuing with TCU. The Horned Frogs have won nine games in back-to-back seasons and will be a dark horse pick in the Big 12 heading into 2026.
Overview
Head coach Sonny Dykes is betting on roster continuity over portal splashes. The Frogs are the only P4 team to sign fewer than 15 new places and to lose fewer than 14. The nine portal signees are higher rated than the eight departures with one major exception – QB Josh Hoover, who is headed to Indiana. Five of the nine additions play on offense, including a pair of linemen. Defensively, TCU added a defensive end, a linebacker, and two cornerbacks.
Class Grade: B
Three Key Additions
QB Jaden Craig, Harvard: TCU dipped into the Ivy League to replace Hoover and provide new offensive coordinator Gordon Sammis a signal caller for 2026. Craig threw for 2,869 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2025 and 2,430 yards and 23 scores in 2024. He’s played in 28 games over three years at Harvard and leaves as the program’s all-time leader in passing yards. He’s not overly mobile, gaining 78 yards and scoring three times on 48 attempts last season. Craig led Harvard to a 19-5 record as a starter and a share of the Ivy League title in all three years he was active.
OL Noah McKinney, Oklahoma State: TCU signed McKinney during the season, locking up one of the better interior offensive lineman available in the 2026 portal. The 6-foot-4, 330-pounder entered the portal after Oklahoma State fired former head coach Mike Gundy. He started seven times in 2025. The Frogs three starters in the interior of the offensive line – left guard Cade Bennett, center Coltin Deery, and right guard Cade Bennett – ran out of eligibility after the 2025 season. McKinney is an instant starter at one of the guard positions.
WR Jeremy Scott, South Alabama: TCU will throw the ball plenty with Craig at quarterback and the arrival of Scott should help the offense put up big numbers in the passing game once again. He caught 24 passes for 417 yards and four touchdowns as a redshirt freshman and his best football is still in front of him. TCU wide receivers Eric McAlister and Joseph Manjack IV were seniors so Scott should get plenty of opportunity to earn a starting spot.
Two Sleepers
RB Landon Walker, Colorado School of Mines: The Fort Worth native is headed back home with one more year of eligibility as the Frogs retool the offense under a new coordinator. Walker ran for 2,220 yards and 29 touchdowns while averaging 6.5 yards per carry in five years at the Division II level. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound running back has played in 39 games over his career. TCU lost four running backs to graduation or the portal after the season, so expect plenty of carries for Walker in his one season as a Frog.
Edge Cheta Ofili, Texas Tech: Ofili left Sachse High School as one of the premier edge rushers in the 2024 class and never earned consistent snaps in two years at Texas Tech because the Red Raiders brought in so much high-priced and experienced talent into the program ahead of the 2025 season. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound outside linebacker can blossom under DC Andy Avalos and he has three years of eligibility to reach that potential.
