This week's cover reveal of EA Sports College Football 26 got us thinkin': What current Texas high school football player would be best-suited for the cover of a TXHSFB 26 video game?
GREG POWERS
2026 RB KJ Edwards, Carthage - The top returning star for defending 4A DII state champ Carthage, is an explosive RB in the mold of Jahmyr Gibbs. He earned Offensive MVP honors in the 2024 title game after rushing for 188 yards and two TDs. Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, LSU and Colorado are in the hunt.
MATT STEPP
2026 QB Jake Fette, El Paso Del Valle - Fette is one of the top QBs in the country - a prototypical passer with underrated athleticism and elite sleight of hand operating fakes. The "El Passer" (hat-tip Hudson Standish of 247Sports) is the right call for the cover!
CARTER YATES
2026 RB John Hebert, Strake Jesuit - Hebert already puts video game numbers up anyway, so he’s perfect for the cover! His 3,542 rushing yards led the state, regardless of classification.
ISHMAEL JOHNSON
2026 WR Brock Boyd, Southlake Carroll - Southlake Carroll's top wideout is arguably the best, or one of the best, in the state. The Dragons also have the makings of a state title favorite.
MALLORY HARTLEY
2026 ATH Jermaine Bishop, Willis HS - He's Texas High School Football's Travis Hunter, and it only makes sense because Travis Hunter was on last year's cover.
CORY HOGUE
2026 WR Chase Campbell, Wolfforth Frenship - TXHSFB '26 cover boy is Chase Campbell, Frenship. He may not be the most recognizable name to put on the cover, but the four-star receiver will quickly grab your attention with his route running and ability to position himself to high-point the deep pass. He's a touchdown machine whether passing, running, or receiving the ball.
GAVIN MORITZ
2026 ATH Jermaine Bishop, Willis HS - Why wouldn’t I pick the most electrifying player in TXHSFB? Bishop is a legitimate weapon in all three phases who has the ability to change the game at any moment. With the Texas commit as my cover selection, we’re selling COPIES, y’all.
WILLIAM WILKERSON
2026 QB Keisean Henderson, Legacy School of Sports Sciences - At the end of the day, video games are trying to make money. What better way to do that than with the No. 1 player in the state for 2026? Turn on the tape and you'll instantly see why that ranking is justified. Henderson can do it all.
