TCU head coach Sonny Dykes will be searching for his third offensive coordinator since 2022 with news that Kendal Briles is leaving to become the play caller at South Carolina in the SEC.

That’s probably good news for everyone involved because the Horned Frogs fan base was ready for a change at offensive coordinator after three years with Briles. He replaced Garrett Riley, who became the offensive coordinator at Clemson after helping TCU play for a national championship in 2022.

The Frogs were ninth nationally in scoring offense during that 2022 season with 38.8 points per game. They scored an average of a touchdown less than that in the three years under Briles with a scoring average of 31.86 points per game as the offense ranked 41st, 23rd, and 43rd in his three seasons in charge.

TCU is 8-4 heading into The Alamo Bowl matchup with USC and could win at least nine games in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2014-15. Dykes is 35-17 overall in four seasons in charge of the Frogs and has posted a winning record in the Big 12 in three of his four years.
