Fort Bend ISD is now on the market for a new head coach at Elkins High School as Dennis Brantley late last week announced he was retiring from coaching.

A graduate of Texas Southern University, Coach Brantley has been a part of Fort Bend ISD for the past 31 years. He was previously a head coach at Fort Bend Marshall for four seasons (2004-2007) where he led the Buffaloes to three playoff appearances and back-to-back district titles in 2005 and 2006.

Brantley has been part of the Elkins program since 2008 where he spent 2008-2010 as the Knights offensive coordinator. He was promoted to head coach in 2011 and in his 12 seasons as a head coach he led the Knights to the playoffs seven times, with a 10-3 record in 2013 being the high-water mark.

Fort Bend ISD is expected to post the job soon and move relatively quickly in naming Brantley’s replacement as this is the third head coach opening that will be filled this offseason by FBISD. The district has already hired the first-ever head coach at Fort Bend Crawford, which will begin varsity play in 2024, and filled the head coaching vacancy at Fort Bend Dulles.
