Former North Texas defensive end Cam Robertson won’t move far to start his next chapter. The Plano native announced on Twitter that he’ll play at SMU in 2023. The 6-4, 238-pounder was on the C-USA All-Freshman team in 2022, playing in 14 games and amassing 15 tackles, including three for loss and a sack. Robertson holds three years of eligibility.

SMU and North Texas play in the new-look AAC on Nov. 10 in Dallas. The Mustangs are considered one of the early favorites in 2023, but defense is always a concern on the Hilltop. Robertson’s addition adds another pass rushing threat to an improving front four. SMU also added Miami transfers Elijah Roberts and Jordan Miller to the defensive front. Je’lin Samuels, Jayden Jones, and David Abiara are also still on campus as defensive ends.
