Baylor freshman running back Richard Reese was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week today. The first year running back had a breakthrough performance setting career highs in rushing attempts (19) rushing yards, (156) and touchdowns (3) against Texas State in Week 3. This was Baylor’s first individual three-TD rushing effort since Abram Smith did so against BYU in 2021.

Reese is now tied for the Big 12 lead with five rushing touchdowns as well as ranking second in yards per carry (6.97) and fifth in total rushing yards (237). What is even more impressive is that Reese is second nationally in rushing touchdowns (five).

Baylor plays in Ames against Iowa State this coming Saturday. Game kicks off at 11 am (CT) on ESPN 2.
