It’s a huge game in Central Texas this week as the top two teams in 12-6A go at it with a potential district title on the line.
Harker Heights comes into this one averaging over 54 points per game, as the Knights have simply been a flame-thrower through the first four weeks of the season. Last week they blitzed past Killeen Ellison, 49-8, as RB Re’Shaun Sanford tallied 257 yards of total offense and four touchdowns to lead HHHS.
Temple survived a brutal non-district schedule and the Wildcats in the long run may be better for it as they looked sharp in an easy 49-7 win over Bryan to open district play. Temple’s offense rolled up over 500 yards on the night as RB Samari Howard ran for three touchdowns, WR Mikal Harrison-Pilot hauled in two touchdown passes and the Wildcats defense didn’t allow a score. Bryan’s only points came on a kickoff return touchdown.
Expect this one to be fun. There are lots of local ties and the communities know each other well, but going in to Temple and getting a win is always tough for the Killeen ISD schools. Blue front, white back gets the win.
