Baylor linebacker Terrel Bernard will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a shoulder injury that will require surgery in the Bears' loss to Iowa State.
Bernard ranked as a legitimate All-America contender and the top linebacker in Texas through five games. The La Porte product posted 55 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, three passes defended and an interception in just five games.
With Bernard out, converted running back Abram Smith is projected to move up to No. 1 on the depth chart at weakside linebacker. Smith has 10 career tackles.
In addition to Bernard, running back Craig "Sqwirl" Williams will also miss the remainder of the season after tearing both his ACL and MCL in the loss to ISU. Williams earned the first start after rushing for 91 yards and a touchdown against TCU, but suffered the injury in the first half.
Baylor sits at 1-4 to start the season and faces off against Texas Tech on Saturday in Lubbock
