What’s happening in 3A DII?

No, seriously, this division is already getting wild and we're barely through Week 2.

Where to begin, let's see...

Well first No. 1 Gunter lost to Pottsboro the No. 3 in 3A DI. In a vacuum, that’s not so egregious, but let’s keep going down the rankings to put it into context. No. 3 Daingerfield lost 17-8 to Tatum and No. 2 Canadian lost 28-21 to Iowa Park. Not to mention that No. 5 Newton had its first two weeks called off due to Hurricane Laura.

And then to cap it all off, No. 7 George West lost to 2A DI Refugio soooo…that leaves potentially No. 1 East Bernard come Monday? Or Pewitt? Who knows, but we have a lot to think about in this already topsy-turvy division. Usually non-district gives us some indication of who's for real, who's not but in 3A DII? Good luck guessing who's going to be playing inside AT&T come the state championship.

Meet Kolt Shuckers and Lindsay

We knew the Knights would be a formidable team in 2A DI with a strong supporting cast returning, but a 20-point win over 2A DII No. 8 Muenster was enough to turn heads.

With Preseason All-State QB Kolt Schuckers at the helm, Lindsay’s a team to watch as an unbeaten season is now a realistic target for this high-flying offense. Be sure to keep tabs on this emerging contender in 2A DI and Schuckers as an early Mr. Texas Football candidate to watch.

Don't be surprised to see the Knights possibly punch their way into the DCTF Top 10 very soon.

It’s not too soon to call No. 2 Argyle a big problem

Not every team makes Texarkana Pleasant Grove's defense look overmatched. In fact, over the last few seasons, only last year’s Carthage and Jordan Whittington’s Cuero have really done that, until this past Friday night.

The Eagles hung 52 on the defending 4A DII state champions in a 52-41 affair that saw argyle QB C.J. Rogers extend his season total to 10 touchdown passes over just two games. Saying Argyle is a state-contender isn't breaking any news here, but considering the Eagles are replacing some key skill positions, seeing Todd Rodgers' team seamlessly keep the wheels churning should be concerning for the rest of 4A DI.

Social Media Highlights

Socially distant postgame handshake lines. A new, temporary normal for the time being after Waco La Vega’s hard-fought slugfest win over cross-town foe Waco Connally.

Does this count as a You Got Mossed? Maybe? Probably? Either way, great snag from Melissa’s Antonio Robinson in the Cardinals’ 58-28 win over Sunnyvale.

Just because he's one of the best defensive end prospects in the nation, doesn't mean Pleasant Grove's Landon Jackson can't also carry some of the offensive load.
