Texas and Texas A&M were both ranked in the preseason AP Top 25, which was released on Monday morning.

The Aggies edged out the Longhorns, ranking No. 13. The Longhorns finished one spot behind at No. 14 after finishing 25th in the 2019 postseason AP Top 25.

Texas A&M is searching for its first top 10 finish since Johnny Manziel earned the Heisman Trophy in 2012. The Longhorns hope to finish in the top 25 for a third straight season.

Baylor – which finished as the top team in Texas in 2019 – received the 36th-most votes, with TCU close behind at No. 38. SMU paced the Group of Five, finishing No. 42.

The voters were asked to include all FBS schools in the preseason top 25, whether or not the schools plan to play football this fall. Nine schools in the preseason rankings will not play football in fall 2020 after the Big Ten and Pac-12 postponed football.
