Tuesday morning, the UIL announced official changes to the 2020-21 athletic schedule due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak across Texas. Changes to the basketball schedule included a ban on UIL participation in in-season tournaments and showcases, this includes hosting as well. Due to the ban on tournament participation, the UIL also expanded the game limit to 27.

Coincidentally the Thanksgiving Hoopfest, a prominent national showcase in Duncanville, announced its start dates of November 27 and 28 on Monday.

Teams will also be allowed to have two scrimmages with no more than four teams participating at a single location.

Nick Alvarado of TXHSGBB.com reports that the UIL is allowing back-to-back day scheduling during the regular season.

Additionally, the UIL unveiled an amended playoff schedule with both the boys and girls regional tournament being stretched out over the course of a week. Traditionally, the regional semifinal and final rounds of the playoffs are played on back-to-back days.

The new playoff dates are as followed:

Girls Regional Semifinals: February 22-23

Girls Regional Finals: February 26-27

Boys Regional Semifinals: March 1-2

Boys Regional Finals: March 4-6
