WACO -- TCU quarterback Michael Collins exited the Horned Frogs’ game against Baylor after suffering an apparent lower body injury.

Collins went down inside the TCU red zone after getting hit by a Baylor defender. Trainers helped him off the field, but he did not put pressure on his right foot. Earlier in the game, Collins came up hobbled after getting sandwiched between two Baylor linemen on a drive following a Bears fumble deep in their own territory.

In relief of Collins, TCU inserted senior quarterback Grayson Muehlstein. He threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jalen Reagor on his second drive of the game to give the Horned Frogs a 9-6 lead in Waco.

Collins, a redshirt sophomore from New Canaan, Conn., took over as starting quarterback against Kansas after starter Shawn Robinson underwent season-ending shoulder surgery. Collins has completed 56 percent of his passes for 1,045 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. The Horned Frogs are 1-2 in his starts with a 14-13 win over Kansas State.

The Horned Frogs opted not to insert blue-chip freshman quarterback Justin Rogers in Collins’ place. The Louisiana native has not appeared in a game in over a year after suffering a severe knee injury. TCU coach Gary Patterson said previously that Rogers is available to play, but still limited.
