Pledge HERE to buckle up and your school could win $5,000!
Now through Feb. 27, take the pledge to always wear your seat belt. Every seat. Every ride.
You’ll not only stay safer on the road, but you’ll also help your high school compete for bragging rights in the Saved by the Belt Challenge. The Texas high school with the most pledges will be awarded $5,000 to support student participation in UIL events.
Buckling up can save you $200 in fines and your life. In fact, a seat belt is your best defense against serious injury or worse in a crash.
HERE’S WHAT THE LAW SAYS IN TEXAS
Anyone in a vehicle can get a ticket for not buckling up—driver or passengers, front seat or back—and face fines of up to $200.
IF YOU’RE THE DRIVER
Buckle up before driving.
Don’t start the ride until everyone else is buckled up too.
WHY IT MATTERS
Buckling up can keep you from being ejected from your vehicle.
Unbuckled passengers can seriously injure others riding with you.
Take the pledge and vote for your school today! And rally your school to compete in the Texas Department of Transportation’s Saved by the Belt Challenge. It’s not just about bragging rights. It’s about saving lives. Remember to buckle up—every seat, every ride, day and night.”
