Denton Guyer 2027 DE Zane Rowe has committed to Oregon over Oklahoma, North Carolina and Washington.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound standout is rated as the No. 1 defensive end in Texas. His recruitment ultimately came down to Oregon and Washington.

For Rowe, Oregon’s winning culture and the leadership of head coach Dan Lanning won out.

“They’re a winning team with a winning standard,” said Rowe, who checks in as one of the five most offered prospects in Texas with 46 FBS-level scholarships. “We have a winning standard here at Guyer, and I feel like that translates well to another big program like Oregon. Coach Dan Lanning’s story, coming from the bottom all the way to the top, that’s the kind of coach I would want to follow.”

Rowe has been part of a strong run at Denton Guyer, contributing since his freshman season as the Wildcats built winning season after winning season. 

“I want to do better than we did last year,” Rowe said. “We blew out our district, and I expect to do that again. I’m saying it right now, we’re going to blow out our district again, especially with the guys I’m playing with like Kyren Haywood, Logan Lokey, Darrien Hill and AJ Moss. Playing alongside guys like that makes it easy.”

Rowe’s versatility allows him to impact the game across the defensive front, making him a defensive chess piece for Oregon Defensive Coordinator Chris Hampton. 

“I’m very versatile,” Rowe said. “I can play in space. My speed and power, I feel like that’s almost unstoppable. Just being able to play with that power is what sets me apart.”

As a junior, Rowe recorded 72 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two defensive touchdowns, and a blocked kick to earn District 5-6A Overall MVP honors and Under Armour All-American honors.
