Four-star Fort Bend Crawford 2027 WR Alvin Mosley doesn't take time off.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound playmaker is preparing to compete for a 4A Division I state basketball title while juggling one of the most heated recruiting battles in Texas.
For Mosley, the two sports go hand-in-hand.
"Going off the basketball side, ball skills for sure help from basketball to football," Mosley said. "And then for football, the footwork. All the footwork I did in football definitely helps in basketball."
That crossover shows up on film. Mosley thrives attacking the football at its highest point and turning catches into explosive plays, much like his idol, former Dallas Cowboys legend Dez Bryant.
"What I do best is go get the ball," Mosley said. "I high-point the ball for sure. When I'm catching the ball, I make somebody miss all the time in the open field."
Mosley's emergence has coincided with the growth of Fort Bend Crawford's young program. After a 5–6 debut season in the school's first varsity campaign in 2024, the team took a step forward in 2025, advancing to the regional finals and finishing 12-2.
Mosley collected 67 receptions for 1,138 yards and 20 touchdowns to earn 12-4A DI Overall MVP honors along the way.
"We had to bounce back," Mosley said. "We had a full senior, junior and sophomore class this year. I didn't want my seniors to go out in no type of way like the first round, so we had to make this year better."
After collecting over 30 scholarship offers, Mosley currently lists a Top 6 of Houston, SMU, TCU, Texas, Tennessee and Ole Miss.
With SEC programs pressing and in-state powers pushing to keep him home, Mosley’s recruitment is shaping up to be a national battle.
He has a visit scheduled with Ole Miss (June 5), and the Rebels have to be considered as one of the clear favorites in his recruitment, but there is still a chance that he plays his college football in Texas.
Houston will get the first major swing when Mosley takes an official visit May 28–30. The Cougars have made him a “No. 1 priority,” giving the hometown program a real opportunity to keep the rising star in the city.
SMU has been pushing for his commitment from the jump. He has yet to lock in an official visit with the Mustangs. He has already had the chance to see the program multiple times and values his close relationship with SMU Co-Offensive Coordinator D'eriq King.
"That was one of my first schools to offer me," Mosley said. "I've been up there two or three times."
TCU has been pushing his NFL potential and the proven track record of WR Coach Malcolm Kelly. "Coach Kelly develops a lot of NFL receivers my size," Mosley said. "That's something to think about for real."
Texas has secured an official visit (June 12), and Mosley already had a chance to check out the vibes in Austin during an unofficial visit last season.
"The culture there is very nice," Mosley said. "I went up to a football game there last year, and the culture is very nice. They keep it real with me and show love to me and my family."
Mosley has a championship to chase on the hardwood before turning his full focus back to recruiting.
