Class 1A Division I and Division II are the state’s smallest classifications and compete in six-man football. Last season’s 1A Division II state champion, Jayton, moved up a classification and now ranks among the five smallest programs in Division I.

The 1A Division I state champion, Gordon (84 enrollment), sits closer to the middle of the division. The Longhorns also stepped up last season to face 11-man Class 2A Thorndale and pulled off a 54-21 win.
