UIL REALIGNMENT: Most Intriguing 4A DII Storylines to Watch
Presented by:
El Paso Gets a Division II District: It appears the El Paso area will have their own 4A-Division II district for the first time. The 915 has six schools that have fallen into the Division II enrollment category and with none opting up, it appears the Sun City will have some say in the Region I race in 2026-2027.
North DFW Log-Jam Impacts Into East Texas: With Iowa Park and Ponder both moving up to Class 4A-Division II from Class 3A-Division I you’ve got a large number of schools in that northern DFW corridor. Could this log-jam of schools create an extra district in DFW? On the surface that doesn’t seem like a huge deal, but it is because if you add an extra district to DFW, that almost certainly pushes the big, bad Carthage Bulldogs into Region III for the next two years. Keep an eye on this scenario next week.
Questions On the Coast: During the last alignment, the Corpus Christi area was largely centered in District 15-4A Division II with Cuero joining the loop. However, Kingsville, which is just 30 minutes south of town, went south into the Rio Grande Valley. I think Kingsville is a safe bet to remain south, but does Robstown potentially join the Brahmas? Does Cuero rejoin the Coastal Bend schools? Could Gonzales possibly get drawn south. Sinton, last year’s regional champion, is notably missing as they move down to Class 3A-Division I.
