In 2024, Longview put on a defensive clinic in pitching a 21-0 shutout over North Forney to wrap up the District 11-6A title. In 2025, NFHS QB Legend Bey and the Falcons offense were determined to not let history repeat itself as head coach Marcus Shavers’ ball club rallied from a 42-21 halftime deficit to stun the Lobos.
Ohio State commit Legend Bey had a monster night tallying 377 yards of offense and five touchdowns as NFHS finished with an eye-popping 560 yards on the ground averaging over 13 yards per carry.
It was a game of runs from the beginning as RB Cordai Woodard ripped off a 93-yard touchdown run to stake the Falcons to an early 7-0 lead. Longview would quickly answer as FB Kylon Cummings scored from two yards out to tie the game at seven. The score was set up by a 66-yard pass from QB Johnny Hamilton to WR Jaden Hurndon.
NFHS would jump out to a 21-7 lead when Bey connected with Eli Otieno for a 32-yard touchdown pass on the following drive. Then, after forcing a Longview punt, a bad snap set the Falcons up at the Longview seven-yard line where Bey would run it in to extend the Falcons' lead to 21-7.
Longview would answer in a big way as the Lobos ripped off five straight touchdowns to seize apparent control of the game. The onslaught started with Hamilton connecting with Hurndon for a 53-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 21-14. After recovering an onside kick, the Lobos would tie the game at 21-21 on Mason Washington’s two-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter.
Longview’s defense with new life forced a NFHS punt and Washington would cap the ensuing drive with a five-yard scoring run and Longview had taken the lead at 28-21. Longview’s defense would get back-to-back interceptions on the next two Falcon drives and Hamilton would turn both miscues into Lobo points with touchdown passes to Hurndon and Javier Glave to give Longview a stunning 42-21 halftime lead.
The North Forney rally is all the more impressive considering Longview opened the third quarter with a chance to take a four-score lead as they received the opening second half kick. However, the NFHS defense made some adjustments at halftime forcing a Longview punt on the opening drive. Pinned on their own seven-yard line, RB Andikan Asuquo ripped off his own 93-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 42-28.
Longview would have their own answer to get it back to a three-score game as Hamilton found speedy Kaidon Graves on a screen pass and Graves did the rest going 70 yards for a house call to put the Longview advantage at 49-28 with still 9:41 left in the third quarter.
Bey would get things into over-drive for North Forney as on the next drive he went 62-yards for a score to put it at 49-35 Longview. After a short kickoff Longview took over near midfield and tried to get the running game going to look to milk the game away, but a huge 3rd and 2 stop for a loss by the North Forney defense forced Longview to punt. North Forney would respond with another score as Bey would find the end zone from two-yards out to make it 49-41 with 2:23 left in the third (PAT was no good).
North Forney would have their own special teams magic as they recovered the ensuing onside kick to give their offense the ball back and Asuquo would score for the second time this time from three yards out and after the two-point conversion we were tied at 49-49 going into the final quarter.
North Forney’s special teams magic would continue as this time Longview mishandled a short kickoff and the Falcons were able to recover once again.
North Forney would have to work for this score, but on fourth and goal from the one, Bey would find his way into the end zone to give North Forney the lead back in improbable fashion at 56-49 with just over nine minutes left in the game. Longview would finally get the ball back and get the running game going as they embarked on a 15-play drive that was capped by touchdown pass from Hamilton to Hurndon, but the PAT was missed and North Forney with 3:29 left in the game led 56-55.
Longview’s defense needed a stop, but the Lobos were unable to get that stop as NFHS picked up three first downs, including a 3rd and 15 conversion from QB Legend Bey on a 16-yard run to help ice the game for the Falcons, who took a huge step towards the 11-6A title with the win.
Bey led NFHS, but the Falcons had two other 100-yard rushers on the night with Cordai Woodard with 185 yards rushing and a score and Andikan Asuquo chipped in 132 yards on the ground and two scores. Longview got a monster night from QB Johnny Hamilton, who completed 15-of-19 passes for 374 yards and five scores. Sophomore WR Jaden Hurndon led the way with eight catches for 195 yards and three scores.
