With 3,034 career receiving yards, 2026 Southlake Carroll WR Brock Boyd (6'1, 175) is now the all-time leading receiver in the Dragons' storied history and he caught a touchdown pass in a 44-6 win over Euless Trinity, but he quickly pointed to his defense as the key to the victory.

"Last year they came out and put 49 on our defense," Boyd said. "We went into this week with a little bit of vengeance. But man, the defense has been working since fall camp."

Boyd lined up at times against top 2027 CB John Meredith, though the two superstars saw limited action against each other. He still embraced the chance to compete.

"This game’s been on my calendar for three months," Boyd said. "It was an opportunity I wanted against one of the best. Unfortunately, we didn’t really get to go at it much tonight, but he’s a ballplayer and I respect his game. I definitely feel like we both got better tonight, and that’ll carry through the season."

Boyd is also closing in on some of the all-time Texas high school receiving records, but his focus remains on winning a state championship, rather than setting personal records. He's about business.

"I think it’s just one day at a time and staying hungry. That’s our biggest thing. We have a really, really good football team, and during the week in practice we’ve got to take advantage of every period when we come in and compete against each other."

Boyd has also started celebrating touchdowns with the O-H-I-O, proudly repping the Buckeyes in Texas.

"Oh yeah, it felt really, really good," Boyd beamed. "I’m getting used to throwing it up a lot. I can’t wait to get up there, but right now I’m just staying where my feet are, soaking in every moment, and enjoying being a senior."

Boyd’s teammate and close friend Tristan Dare is committed to Michigan, setting up a friendly locker-room rivalry over 2025’s edition of The Game. Boyd is confident Ohio State will come out on top.

"Because they’ve got the best defense," Boyd said. "Their wide receivers are pretty hard to stop. When I went up there, I saw how they work every single day and how much they grind throughout the week. What you put in is what you get out."

Boyd is a DCTX four-star prospect, checking in as the No. 15 overall player in the state.
