SMU landed a key addition to its 2026 recruiting class Thursday with the commitment of Lake Highlands 2026 RB Christian Rhodes (6'1, 200).
Rhodes, rated as a three-star by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and a four-star by 247Sports, chose the Mustangs over offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Houston, Miami (FL) and Ole Miss. He made two visits in the past month before locking in his decision, drawn to SMU’s strong family atmosphere, top-tier training facilities and championship potential.
SMU’s coaching staff, led by running backs coach Kyle Cooper, made Rhodes a priority early in the process.
As a junior, he rushed for 1,271 yards and 14 touchdowns on 147 carries.
Rhodes joins Yoakum four-star Xzavier Barnett as an in-state commit for SMU’s 2026 class.
