Texas junior defensive tackle Byron Murphy will enter NFL Draft, ESPN's Pete Thamel announced.

Murphy, a former all-state performer at DeSoto, formed a fearsome duo with fifth-year defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat that bolstered Texas's national third-ranked rush defense. The 6-foot-1-inch, 308-pounder racked up 8.5 tackles for loss and five sacks, earning All-Big 12 First Team honors.

Murphy is the fourth-ranked defensive tackle in Mel Kiper's 2024 Draft prospect rankings.  He and Sweat will vie to become the third defensive line prospect taken in the First Round in the 21st century (Casey Hampton - 2001, Malcom Brown - 2015).

Reports are that Texas running back Jonathon Brooks will also declare for the Draft.
