Jourdanton (11-0) vs. Edna (8-2), 7 p.m. Thursday at Victoria’s Memorial Stadium: The game many thought would be a regional final matchup is now taking place in the area playoffs after Edna finished second in district play.
Jourdanton knocked off Marion 35-14 last week as the Indians were led by QB Matt Hicks, who ran for three touchdowns and threw for another score in the win as the Indians outscored Marion 28-7 in the second half.
Edna rolled past Rio Hondo 49-10 last week as the Cowboys rolled up a 42-3 halftime lead and cruised in the second half.
The key for Jourdanton is trying to contain Edna’s speed, specifically QB Jaiden Clay. If the Indians contain Clay they can knock off Edna, which I think is still the most talented team in Region IV.
Stepp’s Pick: Edna by 9
