Rogers (5-3) at Lexington (6-2)
7:30 p.m. Friday at Eagle Stadium in Lexington
The District 13-3A Division II crown is on the line on Friday night in Lee County when Rogers makes the 50-mile trip south on US-77 to face off with Lexington. Both teams are undefeated in district play, and the winner will claim the district championship and the all-important No. 1 seed in the playoff bracket. Rogers battled through a brutal non-district schedule, going 2-3 along the way, but the defense has been a consistent force led by Connor Woods and the Pistol Flexbone offense, headlined by junior running back Bryce Watson, has begun to find its footing. Lexington's followed a similar path, starting 1-2 with rather baffling losses to Troy and Rockdale before figuring things out, especially on the offensive side. Sophomore QB Kase Evans is growing up in a hurry, with fellow underclassmen receivers Mason Biehle and Weston Bayer doing the lion's share of the damage on outside. One thing to know: this game figures to be close — three of the last four meetings between these two squads were decided by one possession.
