Van (7-1, 4-0) at Carthage (9-0, 5-0): Van is the final challenger left for Carthage, which will look to improve on the state’s longest winning streak of 25 games.
Van has had two weeks to prepare for this one, which could play a factor. The Vandals took out Center in their last outing, 56-36, as QB Jackson Moffat and the Vandals offense put up big numbers, while the defense did enough to contain a very dynamic Center offensive attack.
Carthage blasted Center last week, 72-27. Sophomore QB Jett Surratt had a monster night throwing for 411 yards and seven touchdowns. The Bulldogs added touchdowns on defense and special teams in the dominant win. Center hung around for a quarter, but a 36-point second quarter broke the game wide open.
Carthage will get a push from a state ranked Van team, but the Bulldogs have a bit too much for Van in all three phases.
