Denton Guyer (2-1) at Prosper (2-1): These two teams have played some absolute barnburners in recent years. They played twice in 2020 with Guyer winning both games by a combined seven points. They played twice in 2021 with Guyer winning the regular season in a blowout, but the playoff game was just a two-point Guyer win. The two played just once last season with Guyer getting a 23-6 win.
Can Prosper end its bad luck against the Wildcats this week?
Guyer bounced back from a loss to Aledo with a solid 28-20 win over a tough and motivated Lancaster team last week. WR Josiah Martin led the way with a pair of touchdown receptions, while Guyer’s defense played well in containing an explosive Lancaster offensive attack.
Prosper dropped its first game of the year last week on the road at Rockwall, 47-41. The backfield duo of Leo Anguiano and Bryce Robinson combined for 215 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns, but the Prosper defense struggled as iit allowed 541 yards of offense in the loss.
Unless Prosper’s defense puts together a better performance, Guyer’s the better and more well-rounded team now and the Wildcats open district play with a big win.
