North Texas is heading into the AAC with a new athletic director and head football coach following the departure of Wren Baker to West Virginia and the ensuing firing of Seth Littrell. One of those positions is set to be filled by a familiar face as DCTF confirms reports that Jared Mosley will take over as athletic director for the Mean Green. The news was first reported by Brett Vito of the Denton Record-Chronicle.

Mosley joined North Texas in 2016 as Athletics’ Associate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He served on the leadership team for Baker, assisting with financial, operational, and administrative issues. He arrived at North Texas after a stint at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame as CEO and president. Mosley possesses previous athletic director experience after serving in the role at Abilene Christian from 2004 to 2014.

At ACU, Mosley increased athletic fundraising by more than 650 percent from $228,00 to $1.7 million. He also oversaw more than $30 million in facility upgrades. He played basketball at ACU and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2015.

Mosley’s first task as athletic director is to hire Littrell’s replacement. Littrell was 44-44 with six bowl appearances in seven years in charge. Names rumored to be high on the Mean Green’s candidate list include former Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente and current Texas Tech assistant Kenny Perry.
