Texas’ Jaylan Ford won Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. Ford had 13 tackles including two for a loss, an interception, one pass breakup and one pressure. Ford’s interception helped secure Texas’ 38-27 victory as the interception set up the Texas offense with good field position which they would eventually score and take a two score lead late in the fourth quarter.

Ford led one of the Longhorns’ better defensive efforts of the season holding Baylor to a season-low 280 total yards including just 56 total yards in the second half and only four yards in the fourth quarter. Ford is the only Power Five player with four interceptions and three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, along with being the only FBS linebacker with four interceptions. Ford is second in the Big 12 in both total tackles (109) and tackles per game (9.08).
