Allen (6-1, 4-0) at Denton Guyer (7-0, 4-0)
First place in 5-6A is on the line Thursday night as Allen looks to continue its six-game winning streak against unbeaten Denton Guyer.
Allen got all they wanted last week from a physical and upstart McKinney squad, but the Eagles made key plays down the stretch in a 31-28 win. RB Kayvion Sibley ran for 83 yards and two touchdowns and also chipped in a receiving touchdown to lead the Eagles. It was Mike Hawkins’ 28-yard touchdown pass to sophomore TE Davon Mitchell with just over five minutes remaining that proved to be the difference in the game.
Guyer blasted cross-town rival Denton Braswell last week, 62-7, as the Wildcats rolled up 634 yards of offense. Oklahoma QB commit Jackson Arnold threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 61 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Trey Joyner added 118 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground for the Wildcats.
Allen handled Guyer a year ago and Guyer’s had this one circled on the schedule for a while. Arnold and the Wildcats get the passing game going against a young Allen secondary and Guyer secures a key win as they look to secure the 5-6A title.
