For Mansfield Timberview, there has been a solid start to the 2020 season. And for 2022 CB/S Landon Hullaby (6-0, 185), things are moving along well with a 6-0 start.
"Everything is good for us right now. Working and getting better every week," Hullaby said. "Hope we keep winning and get into the playoffs. For me, I haven't been tested much with the pass, but I am making lots of tackles."
Hullaby is, of course, one of the state's best as a defender in the 2022 class. Lots of offers and interest have come his way. To date, he has nearly 30 offers from the who's who in college football.
Schools like Notre Dame, Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, Oregon, Baylor, Oklahoma State and Auburn have stepped up. The most recent offer is Mississippi State, which came earlier this month.
The DCTF four-star is wide open as it pertains to favorites, but a couple of schools have ramped up early interest in his talents.
"I would say that Oregon and Auburn stand out for me. I talk to those coaches a lot," Hullaby said. "I have taken virtual visits to both of them, and I like what I am seeing. I have good relationships with both coaching staffs."
Hullaby said college coaches have mentioned that they like him as a cornerback and safety equally. He's been playing safety a lot this season, with his physicality being used in run support. His versatility is a major plus.
LSU and Florida are a couple of other top programs that have been checking in regularly as well, and he admits that SEC programs have caught his early attention in the early going.
"I have been watching a lot of SEC football lately. I like the defense (from the conference) a lot," Hullaby said. "Mississippi State. I like theirs a lot."
Hullaby's brother (Jaden Hullaby) is a running back at Texas.
