With the start of the UIL Texas high school football playoffs this week, the UIL announced on its website the modified schedule for the 2020 football state championship games games. Due to the modifications made to the schedule caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the UIL invoked a staggered start to the season which will cause the Class 6A and 5Astate title games to be four weeks later than their usual dates which are the weekend before Christmas. All games will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
The Class 4A, Class 3A, Class 2A and Class 1A schools will remain on their regularly scheduled dates the weekend before Christmas with a slightly modified schedule from what you may be used to seeing. AT&T Stadium will once again be the host to the state title games, as they have hosted all twelve of the UIL football state title games since 2016 and have hosted all of the UIL 11-man title games since 2011, with the exception of 2015.
