The Texas State 7-on-7 Organization has always been at the forefront of innovation and advancements to make the sport better for all our participants.

To that end, we take great pride in the fact that we were the first State 7-on-7 Organization to require mouthguards and soft-shell headgear. Since that time, we’ve witnessed the proliferation of counterfeit headgear, headbands, and rugby scrum usage of these vendors and their product do not carry a safety rating that meets the standards we have established. These vendors and products do not carry substantial and proper product liability insurance coverage. We also understand many products were not designed to be used for play in 7-on-7 football. 

Effective June 27th, 2024, the following headgear will be mandated to be worn by all participants at all Texas State 7v7 Championships, as recommended by Virginia Tech's helmet standards. There will be no exceptions to this rule, as player safety is paramount. 

The following headgear is the only headgear that meets our safety standards: 

• Adidas Force PRO Softshell Headgear 

• GameBreaker-PRO Soft Shell Headgear 

• GameBreaker Multi-Sport Soft Shell Headgear
