Kingwood 2027 OT Kennedy Brown committed to Texas A&M over offers from Texas, Florida, Oregon and Tennessee.
The 6-foot-5, 290-pounder brings a rare blend of size, length and athleticism, owning a massive 91-inch wingspan and the positional flexibility to dominate at tackle or slide inside at guard.
His development has been years in the making, dating back to when former Kingwood head coach Cale Melton — now the head coach at Montgomery Lake Creek — first spotted Brown on the hardwood.
“I saw him and was like, ‘That’s a big kid,’” Melton said. “I said, ‘He’s clumsy and has those big ol’ feet. If he ever grows into them and those big hands he has, he’s gonna be unreal.’”
That projection has come to fruition. Brown has blossomed into a dominant force up front, earning DCTF five-star honors. He combines elite measurables with proven production. As a sophomore, he logged more than 600 snaps without allowing a single quarterback pressure.
Off the field, Brown is a team leader who has the respect of his coaches and teammates.
“You get a lot of these kids that are great athletes, and the hard part is keeping them humble,” Melton said. “Man, he’s such a humble kid. A great kid, a program kid. He loves his teammates. He loves playing football.”
On the field, however, Brown flips the switch and plays with a real nasty streak.
“What I say to the o-line is that you have to hate the person in front of you,” Brown said.
With Brown now in the fold, he joins fellow elite tackles Kaeden Scott and DeMarrion Johnson, giving Texas A&M commitments from the three highest-rated offensive tackle prospects in Texas.
