With the NFL season over, all eyes focus on the upcoming NFL Draft, which takes place April 23-25 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The State of Texas has produced at least two first-round draft picks in 17 straight years and led the country in draft picks last season.
Mock drafts are flooding timelines at the moment and here are the 15 players most predict will be selected inside the first three rounds.
WR Jordyn Tyson, Arizona State, Allen HS
Projected round: Top 10 pick
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound receiver from Allen is trending towards becoming the first Texan selected in the upcoming draft while most mock drafts place him inside pick No. 10. Tyson was a productive college receiver, snagging 136 catches for 1,812 yards and 18 touchdowns over his final two seasons at Arizona State. An injury kept him from playing a full season in 2025, but he averaged 14.7 yards a catch and gained over 1,100 receiving yards in 2024 when the Sun Devils won the Big 12 and reached the College Football Playoff.
CB Jermod McCoy, Tennessee, Whitehouse HS
Projected round: Top 20 pick
McCoy looks like a shoo-in for a first-round selection even though the Whitehouse native hasn’t played a game since December of 2024. He missed 2025 while recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered early in the offseason, but should be fully recovered by the combine. The former three-star prospect began his career at Oregon State before transferring to Tennessee after the 2023 season. He was elite as a sophomore for a CFP team in 2024 when he was second-team All-SEC.
LB Anthony Hill Jr., Texas, Denton Ryan HS
Projected round: Late 1st round
Hill was a can’t-miss five-star prospect out of Denton Ryan and he lived up to his billing over three years with the Longhorns. He started over 30 games as a Horn, playing in multiple CFPs and earning second-team All-American honors in 2025. Hill leaves the Forty Acres with 249 tackles, including 31.5 for loss and 17 sacks. He also forced eight fumbles and intercepted three passes. He’s a playmaker at the second level and will go in the late first round with strong performances at the combine and at private workouts over the next couple of months.
QB Garrett Nussmeier, LSU, Flower Mound Marcus HS
Projected round: 2nd round
Nussmeier entered the 2025 season as a possible No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft before an up-and-down season dropped his draft stock. Our guess is that his performance at the Senior Bowl and his upcoming individual workouts in settings like the combine or at LSU pro day will propel him into the second round. He’s a talented quarterback and teams typically talk themselves into taking fliers on those guys in the second round. All it takes is one team to fall in love with his upside to propel Nussmeier into the back half of the first round.
LB Jacob Rodriguez, Texas Tech, Wichita Falls Rider HS
Projected round: 2nd round
Rodriguez was arguably the most impactful defensive player in college football during the 2025 season and his trophy case backs up that claim. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker started his college career as a quarterback at West Virginia before transferring home to West Texas and working his way into the starting lineup as a linebacker. Rodriguez led the Red Raiders with 117 tackles, including 11 for loss and a sack. He also led the nation in forced fumbles with seven.
OT Dametrious Crownover, Texas A&M, Grandview HS
Projected round: 2nd round
A fixture at right tackle over the last two seasons for Mike Elko and Texas A&M. His massive 6-foot-7, 336-pound frame and his surprising athleticism at that size will make him hard to ignore on Day 2 of the draft. Crownover has over 20 starts at right tackle in the SEC and was routinely one of the higher-graded offensive linemen for the Aggies throughout the last two seasons.
RB Jadarian Price, Notre Dame, Denison HS
Projected round: 2nd round
Price split time in the backfield with another future NFL draft pick while at Notre Dame, but his talent and upside at the NFL level is obvious. In fact, keeping the tread on his tires down while sharing carries might help his draft stock. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound speedster was an All-American as a junior in 2025 after averaging six yards a carry and rushing for 11 touchdowns. Price ran for 1,692 yards and 21 touchdowns over three seasons in college.
TE Eli Stowers, Vanderbilt, Denton Guyer HS
Projected round: 2nd round
A former quarterback who began his career at Texas A&M before evolving into the top tight end in college football during the 2025 season. Stowers won’t make it out of the second round unless his times are unexpectedly slow over the next couple of months. Stowers was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2025 after catching 49 passes for 638 yards and five touchdowns.
Ar’Maj Reed-Adams, Texas A&M, DeSoto
Projected round: 2nd/3rd round
A Kansas transfer who became an anchor along the Texas A&M offensive line during his two seasons in College Station. Reed-Adams was the full-time starter at right guard in 2024 and 2025. Interior offensive linemen aren’t always the sexiest pick but he’s a future starter in the league.
DB A.J. Haulcy, Houston, Fort Bend Marshall HS
Projected round: 3rd round
The Houston transfer became a stalwart for the LSU secondary in a disappointing season in Baton Rouge. Drama within the Tigers’ program won’t hamper Haulcy’s NFL stock, however. He was productive in each of his four collegiate seasons, recording at least 74 tackles every year, including 88 at LSU in 2025. He also has 10 career interceptions and 29 passes defended. He’s a ballhawk at safety who isn’t afraid of contact.
QB Cade Klubnik, Clemson, Westlake HS
Projected round: 3rd round
Another projected top overall pick that will slip to Day 2 or 3 of the upcoming NFL draft after a shaky end to his career at Clemson. Klubnik leaves college with over 10,000 passing yards and 73 touchdowns over 40 starts. He also rushed for 878 yards and 17 scores during his career.
WR Chris Brazzell II, Tennessee, Midland HS
Projected round: 3rd round
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound wideout began his career at Tulane before a transfer to the SEC. Brazzell exploded onto the national scene with 62 catches for 1,017 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025. He averaged 16.4 yards a catch. Brazzell, who did have another year of eligibility, caught 136 passes for 2,072 yards and 16 touchdowns over his college career. His length and explosiveness won’t allow him to slip past the third round.
WR Josh Cameron, Baylor, Cedar Park HS
Projected round: 3rd round
Cameron was one of the better stories in college football over the last few seasons. He’s a former walk-on whose only scholarship out of high school was to Trinity University, a Division III school in San Antonio. He became WR1 for the Bears over the last two seasons, catching a combined 121 passes for 1,626 yards and 19 touchdowns over that span. He’s also an excellent returner who provides value on special teams.
CB Malik Muhammad, Texas, South Oak Cliff HS
Projected round: 3rd round
Muhammad started 29 games over three years with the Longhorns. He leaves the Forty Acres with 97 tackles, including 3.5 for loss and one sack, along with three interceptions and 19 passes defended. He’s long at 6-foot and has enough athleticism to impress scouts over the next couple of months.
LB Taurean York, Texas A&M, Temple HS
Projected round: 3rd round
York was the unquestioned leader of the Wrecking Crew defense during his three seasons at Texas A&M, becoming a team captain as a teenager and helping the Aggies reach the CFP for the first time in school history. York compiled 228 tackles, including 25 for loss and 6.5 sacks over his career. He also forced a fumble and notched an interception while defending eight passes.
